Awards are active for the 2026 cycle and award winners will be celebrated at the ASC Annual Meeting. Please use this Google Form to nominate others (or yourself) for DHDC Awards. All nominations are due by September 15, 2026.
Best Paper Award: This award recognizes a paper that has made a significant, interdisciplinary contribution to scholarly knowledge on health and/or disability criminology. The paper under consideration must have been published within the last 2 years.
Early Career Award: This award recognizes an individual—practitioner or academic—who has made a significant contribution to scholarly knowledge on health and/or disability criminology in their early career. Early career is defined as no greater than 6 years after receiving the Ph.D. degree or similar graduate degree or who has not yet been tenured.
Distinguished Scholar Award: This award recognizes an individual—practitioner or academic—who has made a significant contribution to scholarly knowledge on health and/or disability criminology across their career (defined as 10+ years after receiving their Ph.D. degree or similar graduate degree).
Center for Advancing Correctional Excellence (ACE!) Student Paper Award: This award recognizes an exceptional unpublished paper by a current graduate student in the field of health and disability criminology. The student must be the solo or lead author (without significant contributions from faculty). A completed dissertation chapter is also an acceptable submission. If not already published, the winner of the student paper award will also be eligible for a submission fee waiver to publish in the DHDC affiliated open-access journal, Health and Justice. Authors have a 2-year window to publish and the waiver will be available once the paper is accepted for publication. This award comes with a cash prize of $500 (generously sponsored by ACE!) to offset travel costs to accept the award.
